The OSG 655056112 is a solid carbide extra length drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Built to Series 6550 specifications, it features a 0.5625 inch (9/16 inch) cutting diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and a flute-to-diameter ratio of 22xD, making it well suited for extended reach drilling where standard-length bits fall short. The EgiAs coating provides surface hardness and wear resistance. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat management during deep drilling operations. This bit is installed and used by machinists, tooling specialists, and CNC operators working in production or precision-machining environments.
The OSG 655056112 is intended for deep-hole and extra-reach drilling operations in metals and hard materials where a standard-length bit cannot achieve the required depth. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 0.6250 inch (5/8 inch) shank diameter seats securely in compatible toolholders and chucks. Right-hand cutting direction and a two-flute geometry support consistent chip flow in through-coolant setups. Typical applications include aerospace, automotive, die-and-mold, and general precision machining where hole depth and positional accuracy are critical.
Designed as an OSG Series 6550 extra length solid carbide drill bit with a 0.6250 inch straight-cylindrical shank, compatible with toolholders and chucks accepting a 5/8 inch straight shank in CNC machining centers and drilling equipment.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the machine powered down before changing tooling. Confirm the toolholder bore matches the 0.6250 inch shank diameter and that the toolholder is rated for the intended cutting depth and spindle speed. Through-coolant supply should be verified and active before starting the cut to prevent premature tool wear or workpiece damage.
