The OSG 654031212 is a solid carbide extra length drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications that demand rigidity, heat resistance, and consistent cutting performance. The bit measures 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) in diameter with an overall length of approximately 9.06 inches (230 mm) and a flute length of approximately 7.09 inches (180 mm), yielding a 20xD flute-to-diameter ratio. It features a 140-degree split point with X-Thinned web geometry to reduce thrust and improve centering on entry. EgiAs coating provides lubricity and thermal protection at elevated cutting speeds. This bit is installed by machinists and tool-room professionals working in production or maintenance environments.
The OSG 654031212 suits deep-hole drilling in metals and hard materials where standard-length drill bits cannot reach required depths. The 20xD reach is well suited for through-holes in structural components, manifolds, and tooling plates. Coolant-through capability makes it compatible with machining centers equipped with through-spindle coolant, helping evacuate chips and manage heat over the full flute length. Right-hand cutting direction and a straight-cylindrical shank allow direct chucking in standard drill chucks or collet holders on CNC machining centers and drill presses.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement bit in the OSG Series 6540 extra length carbide drill line. Fits any machine tool spindle accepting a 5/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank via collet, hydraulic chuck, or keyless drill chuck.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the bit from the chuck or collet holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clamped to the required holding depth before initiating a cut. When using coolant-through capability, verify that coolant pressure and flow rate are within the machine tool manufacturer specifications before running the spindle.
