The OSG 653512512 is a solid carbide extra length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. With a 1/8 inch (0.1250 inch decimal) diameter and a 140-degree split point, the bit enters material cleanly and reduces walking without a center punch. The EgiAs coating improves surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in abrasive or hard materials. At 125 mm overall length with a 60 mm flute length, this bit reaches deeper than standard jobber drills. It features a straight-cylindrical shank of matching 1/8 inch diameter and cuts right-hand with two flutes. Installed by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC and manual drill press setups.
This drill bit suits applications requiring extended reach in tight bores or deep-hole drilling where standard-length bits fall short. The 15xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides chip clearance in deep passes. X-thinned web geometry reduces thrust force, which matters when drilling hardened steels, stainless, or exotic alloys. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed machining setups where through-spindle coolant is available, helping flush chips and control heat at the cutting edge. It is suited for use in precision machining shops, aerospace component work, and medical device fabrication where tight tolerances are required.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses with collet or chuck systems accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the OSG Series 6535 extra length carbide drill line.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated. Secure the shank fully in a precision collet or drill chuck rated for the rpm and feed rates of the application. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended cutting parameters for the work material grade. If using coolant-through capability, verify coolant pressure and flow are compatible with the spindle before operation.
