The OSG 653028312 is a taper length solid carbide drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and metalworking applications. Built to Series 6530 standards, it features a 140-degree split point geometry with X-thinned web construction that reduces thrust force and improves centering on entry. The EgiAs coating provides enhanced wear resistance and heat dissipation, extending tool life in difficult-to-machine materials. At 7.2 mm in diameter with a 10xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio, this bit is suited for deep-hole applications where rigidity and chip evacuation are both critical factors. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators are the typical end users.
This drill bit is applied in precision machining environments including CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where taper length reach is required. The straight cylindrical shank at 8.00 mm diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet-style toolholders. Coolant-through capability makes it effective in high-speed production runs on materials such as alloy steels, stainless steels, and cast irons where internal cooling is necessary to maintain surface finish and tool life at depth.
Designed as an OEM-style taper length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collet toolholders accepting an 8.00 mm straight cylindrical shank across CNC and manual drilling platforms.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle at a full stop and machine power locked out. Ensure the shank seating surface and toolholder bore are clean and free of chips before securing the bit. Verify coolant-through lines are clear and delivering adequate flow before beginning deep-hole cycles. Consult machine tool manufacturer guidelines for recommended speeds and feeds when running solid carbide tooling.
