The OSG 653025612 is a taper length twist drill bit engineered for deep-hole drilling applications requiring extended reach beyond standard jobber-length geometry. Built from solid carbide, this bit delivers hardness and heat resistance suited to ferrous and non-ferrous materials in production and maintenance environments. The drill measures 0.2571 inches in diameter (Letter F, 6.53 mm) with a 140-degree split point and an EgiAs coating for improved surface lubricity and tool life. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed, chip-clearing operation in CNC machining centers and deep-bore setups. Right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently, reducing heat buildup and deflection in taper-length configurations.
This bit fits production machining, tool-and-die, and maintenance-repair operations where standard-length drills cannot reach. The 10xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio and X-thinned web reduce thrust and improve penetration in materials such as steel, cast iron, and aluminum. The straight shank with an 8.00 mm (0.315 inch) shank diameter seats directly in standard chucks and collets on CNC machining centers and drill presses. It is sold individually and is appropriate for shops running tight-tolerance work where carbide rigidity and point accuracy are critical.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and multi-spindle equipment accepting a straight shank with an 8.00 mm shank diameter. Compatible with standard ER and DA collet chucks and keyless drill chucks sized for that shank diameter.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck or collet holder. Verify collet or chuck runout is within acceptable tolerance before running at speed, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral load from excessive runout. Confirm coolant-through passages are clear and supply pressure is set before initiating deep-hole cycles.
