The OSG 653023212 is a solid carbide taper length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Built from solid carbide for rigidity and heat resistance, this bit features a 140-degree split point that reduces walking and improves entry accuracy on hard or coated materials. The EgiAs finish enhances lubricity and wear resistance under high-speed cutting conditions. With a right-hand spiral flute geometry and X-thinned web, the 653023212 delivers efficient chip evacuation and reduced thrust force. Coolant-through capability allows internal coolant delivery directly to the cutting edge, extending tool life in deep-hole drilling operations.
This drill bit is suited for metalworking environments including CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machine tools where hole depth-to-diameter ratios demand a taper length configuration. The 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deep hole drilling with adequate chip clearance. Typical applications include production drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other engineered materials. It is installed and operated by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators in job shop and production settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement drill bit for use in standard straight-shank toolholders and chucks accepting a 6 millimeter shank diameter, consistent with OSG Series 6530 taper length tooling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists using compatible straight-shank chucks or collet holders rated for the shank diameter. Confirm spindle runout is within acceptable tolerances before seating the tool, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral shock loads. When using coolant-through capability, verify that the machine spindle and toolholder support internal coolant delivery at the required pressure. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping before each use and replace if edge integrity is compromised.
