The OSG 653022812 is a solid carbide taper length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. It measures 0.2283 inches (5.80 mm) in diameter with a 140-degree split point angle and features an EgiAs coating for improved heat resistance and tool life. The straight shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collets, while the spiral flute geometry and X-thinned web reduce cutting resistance and improve chip evacuation. Coolant-through capability makes it well-suited for deep-hole drilling where heat buildup and chip packing are primary concerns. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers of this bit.
The OSG 653022812 is built for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and production drilling environments where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required. The 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio and taper length geometry make it appropriate for applications requiring greater reach than standard jobber-length bits. It is commonly used in aerospace, automotive, mold and die, and precision metalworking operations where solid carbide tooling is specified for hard or abrasive materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use taper length drill bit in the OSG Series 6530 line, compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collets sized for a 6.00 mm (approximately 0.2362 inch) shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with CNC or manual drilling equipment. Ensure the machine spindle and collet or chuck are powered down and fully stopped before inserting or removing the bit. Verify collet or chuck bore is sized for the 6.00 mm straight shank to prevent runout or slippage. When using coolant-through capability, confirm the machine spindle and toolholder support internal coolant delivery before enabling flow.
