The OSG 653022012 is a taper length solid carbide drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding machining applications. Built from solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required when working with hard materials, abrasive composites, or tight-tolerance bores. The 140-degree split point promotes accurate entry and reduces walking without a center punch. At 0.2205 inches (5.60 mm) in diameter with a 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio, this bit is well suited for deep-hole drilling where chip evacuation and tool stability are critical. Coolant-through construction supports through-spindle coolant delivery to manage heat and clear chips at depth.
This drill bit fits production machining, tool-and-die, aerospace, and metalworking environments where consistent hole quality is required. The straight shank and 6.00 mm shank diameter allow direct mounting in standard collet chucks and drill chucks on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and lathes. The spiral flute geometry and X-thinned web reduce thrust load and improve chip flow during extended drilling cycles. It is typically installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style taper length drill for use in standard straight-shank collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 6.00 mm shank diameter on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and lathes.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with cutting tool setup and CNC or manual machine operation. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for carbide tooling and the workpiece material before starting. Secure the shank fully in the collet or chuck to the recommended grip depth and verify runout before drilling. Solid carbide tooling is brittle compared to high-speed steel and should never be subjected to side loads or used in machines with excessive spindle play.
