The OSG 653015612 is a taper length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding machining applications. Built from solid carbide, this bit delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for high-speed drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 140-degree split point geometry with X-thinned web for reduced thrust and improved self-centering at entry. The EgiAs coating provides additional surface hardness and lubricity to extend tool life under continuous use. With a flute-length-to-diameter ratio of 10xD, this bit handles deeper hole depths than standard jobber-length drills while maintaining chip evacuation efficiency. Coolant-through capability makes it compatible with high-pressure coolant systems for chip flushing and heat management in production environments.
This drill bit is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines where taper length reach is required. The straight shank with 3/16-inch diameter fits standard ER collets and drill chucks without modification. The right-hand spiral flute and right-hand cut configuration matches conventional machine spindle rotation. It is used in tool and die, aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking shops where hole quality and tool consistency are critical. The 10xD flute ratio makes it appropriate for deep-hole drilling in plates, fixtures, and structural components where standard-length bits cannot reach.
Designed as a taper length replacement drill for CNC machining centers and manual drill presses using standard straight-shank collet or chuck toolholding systems accepting a 3/16-inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Secure the straight shank fully in the collet or chuck and verify runout before operation. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate selection based on workpiece material and hole depth.
