The OSG 653009812 is a taper length drill bit engineered for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Built from solid carbide, this bit delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for drilling hard materials at tight tolerances. The 140-degree split point geometry reduces walking at entry and lowers thrust force, making it well suited for CNC machining centers and automated drilling operations. An EgiAs coating provides enhanced lubricity and heat resistance, extending tool life in high-cycle production environments. The straight cylindrical shank measures 3.00 mm in diameter for secure chuck engagement.
This drill bit is sized at 2.50 mm in diameter, equivalent to 0.0984 inches decimal, and carries a 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio with a 33 mm flute length and a 75 mm overall length. It is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and precision manufacturing professionals working in aerospace, automotive, medical device, and general metalworking applications. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed drilling where internal coolant delivery is available, helping evacuate chips and reduce heat buildup at the cutting zone.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production drill bit in the OSG Series 6530 taper length carbide drill line, compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collets accepting a 3.00 mm shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Verify chuck or collet bore matches the 3.00 mm shank diameter before seating the tool. When using the coolant-through feature, confirm that coolant pressure and flow rate are within the machine spindle specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide tools are brittle and should not be forced into interrupted cuts beyond their rated capacity.
