The OSG 653009012 is a taper length drill bit engineered for precision drilling in demanding industrial and metalworking applications. Constructed from solid carbide, this bit delivers superior hardness and wear resistance compared to high-speed steel alternatives. It features a 140-degree split point angle with X-thinned web geometry, which reduces thrust force and improves centering accuracy at entry. The EgiAs coating further extends tool life by reducing friction and heat buildup. With a right-hand spiral flute and coolant-through capability, this bit is suited for high-speed CNC drilling operations where chip evacuation and thermal management are critical factors.
This drill bit is designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automated drilling fixtures where taper length geometry provides added reach beyond standard jobber-length bits. The 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deep-hole drilling applications in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and production drilling operators typically install and run this bit in coolant-through spindle setups. The straight shank with a 3.00 millimeter shank diameter fits standard collets and drill chucks used in precision machining environments.
Designed as a taper length drill bit in OSG Series 6530, intended for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with collets or chucks accepting a 3.00 millimeter straight shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the collet or chuck is clean and free of debris before seating the straight shank. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and coolant flow is confirmed before initiating a drilling cycle. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended spindle speeds and feed rates for the workpiece material.
