The OSG 652031211 is a taper length drill bit designed for demanding drilling applications where extended reach and precision are required. Built from solid carbide, this bit delivers superior hardness and wear resistance compared to high-speed steel alternatives. It features a 140-degree split point geometry with X-thinned web for fast penetration and reduced thrust. The EgiAs coating provides enhanced lubricity and thermal protection during high-speed cutting operations. Right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently, and the integrated coolant-through capability supports through-spindle coolant for deep-hole work. This tool is sized at 5/16 inch in diameter with an 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio, making it well suited for deep, accurate holes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This drill bit is used in precision machining environments including CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machine tools where taper length reach is needed beyond standard jobber-length drills. The coolant-through design makes it particularly effective for production drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials. It is a single-piece solid carbide construction intended for professional machinists and tool-room technicians who require consistent, repeatable hole quality in high-cycle applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement taper length drill bit for use in standard straight-shank chuck and collet-style toolholders accepting a 5/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of runout before seating the shank. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts beyond the tool's rated capacity, or dropping the tool on hard surfaces. When using coolant-through capability, verify that spindle coolant pressure and flow rate are within the machine's rated parameters before beginning the cut.
