The OSG 651031211 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and hard materials. At 5/16 inches (0.3125 inches) in diameter, it features a 140-degree drill point angle with R-thinned web geometry that reduces thrust and improves self-centering on entry. The EgiAs coating provides thermal resistance and lubricity, extending tool life in demanding production environments. With an overall length of 118 millimeters and a flute length of 64 millimeters, this bit delivers a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio suited to blind hole and cross hole operations. Licensed machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary users.
This drill bit is rated for use in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys, covering ISO material codes P, K, S, and H. It is well suited to CNC machining centers, drill presses, and multi-spindle setups where coolant-through capability can be used to flush chips and manage heat in deep or interrupted cuts. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, general drilling, and self-centering starts without a center drill.

Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with toolholder runout specifications and appropriate cutting parameters for solid carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck rated for the required RPM before starting the spindle. When using the coolant-through feature, verify that coolant pressure and flow are established before the tool contacts the workpiece to prevent thermal shock to the carbide. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and should not be used in setups with excessive vibration or unstable workholding.
