The OSG 650056111 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It measures 0.5626 inches (9/16 inch) in diameter with a 140-degree split point and a two-flute right-hand spiral configuration. The shortened screw machine length body provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, reducing deflection when drilling in production or manual machine setups. R-thinned web geometry lowers thrust force at the tip. Coolant-through capability makes this bit suitable for high-speed CNC operations where internal flood cooling is available. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators typically specify this bit for ferrous and hard-material drilling.
This drill bit is rated for use in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloy workpieces. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web construction are well matched to short, rigid setups such as turret lathes, CNC machining centers, and screw machines. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collets sized for 9/16-inch tooling. It is part of the OSG Series 6500 high-performance carbide drill lineup, which targets production environments where consistent hole quality and tool life in tough materials are priorities.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloy workpieces. Fits standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 0.5626-inch straight cylindrical shank. Part of the OSG Series 6500 high-performance carbide drill line.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully stopped and energy locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before beginning a production run. Coolant-through ports should be cleared and flow confirmed prior to drilling titanium or hard alloy materials. Do not exceed the recommended speed and feed parameters published by OSG for this series and workpiece material combination.
