The OSG 650040511 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. It has a 13/32 inch (0.4062 inch) diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and two spiral flutes with R-thinned, tapered web geometry. The shorter screw machine length body provides rigidity and reduced runout compared to jobber-length bits. Coolant-through capability makes this bit well-suited for high-speed CNC and production drilling where heat removal is critical. It is a right-hand cut tool in the OSG Series 6500 lineup, built for precision and durability in ferrous and exotic material applications.
This drill bit is intended for use in ferrous metals and hard alloys, including steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys. The solid carbide construction and coated finish support extended tool life in high-cycle production environments. It is most commonly run in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine setups where consistent hole quality and tight diameter tolerances are required. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio keeps chip evacuation efficient in moderate-depth holes.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloy workpieces. Fits straight-cylindrical shank tool holders and chucks sized for 13/32 inch (0.4062 inch) diameter bits.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out. Verify chuck or collet runout before seating the bit to protect the carbide shank from chipping. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for feed rate and spindle speed when cutting titanium and hard alloys, as carbide tooling is brittle and sensitive to interrupted cuts. Always engage coolant flow before the tool contacts the workpiece when using the coolant-through feature.
