The OSG 631016111 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. It carries a wire gauge size of 20, which corresponds to 0.1610 decimal inch (4.09 mm) in diameter. The 140-degree point angle with R-thinned web geometry promotes self-centering and reduces thrust in harder workpieces. An EgiAs coating provides wear resistance and extended tool life in steel and alloy steel applications. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6.00 mm and fits standard drill chucks. This bit is part of OSG Series 6310 and is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and production drilling operations.
This drill bit is suited for blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, general drilling, and self-centering applications in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. The 5xD flute-by-diameter ratio supports effective chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes. With a regular spiral and two flutes, it maintains cutting stability across a range of CNC and manual machine setups. Typical applications include production shops, job shops, and maintenance facilities where consistent hole quality in ferrous and hardened materials is required. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied as needed per shop practice.
Designed for use in steel (P), cast iron (K), and hardened steel (H) workpiece material categories per ISO classification. Compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks accepting a 6.00 mm shank. Fits wire size 20 drill size range of 0.1500 to 0.2000 decimal inch (4.00 to 5.00 mm).
Installation and tool-change procedures should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable safety standards. Verify chuck runout before seating the shank to maintain hole-position accuracy. No coolant-through path is present on this bit; apply external cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to manage heat and chip evacuation. Do not exceed the spindle speed and feed rate recommended for solid carbide tooling in the specific workpiece material.
