The OSG 630031111 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. Built to Series 6300 standards, it features a 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) diameter, a 140-degree split point, and a right-hand spiral flute with R-thinned web geometry. The coated carbide construction resists wear and heat buildup during aggressive cutting cycles. At 79.00 mm (approximately 3.11 inches) overall length and a 41.00 mm (approximately 1.61 inches) flute length, this stub-length bit delivers rigidity and reduced deflection. It is intended for use by machinists and toolroom technicians working on production or maintenance drilling operations.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron in screw machine, turret lathe, and CNC drilling applications. The screw machine length format provides a shorter, stiffer profile compared to jobber-length bits, making it appropriate for close-tolerance hole production in tight setups. The straight-cylindrical shank seats reliably in standard drill chucks and quick-change collet systems. The 2xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in shallow-to-moderate depth holes without coolant-through capability.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. Primary application is screw machine, turret lathe, and CNC drilling operations requiring a stub-length solid carbide drill bit in the 0.3000 to 0.3500 inch diameter range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and at a full stop. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized chuck or collet to the tool manufacturer and machine specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply external coolant or cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material as required.
