The OSG 630024911 is a screw machine length drill bit sized at Letter E (0.2500 inches / 6.35 mm), designed for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. Built from solid carbide with an EgiAs coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance in demanding production environments. The 140-degree split point with R-Thinned web geometry reduces thrust force and improves centering accuracy without a pilot hole. At 3.1102 inches overall length and a 34 mm flute length, this stub-length format provides rigid, low-deflection performance in CNC machining centers and production drilling fixtures. Installation is handled by machinists and tooling technicians in machine shop settings.
This drill bit is suited for short-hole production drilling applications in ferrous materials including carbon steel, alloy steel, and gray or ductile cast iron. The screw machine (stub) length makes it the preferred choice when rigidity matters more than depth reach, such as in gang-drilling fixtures, CNC turret setups, and high-cycle production runs. The 2xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in shallow-to-moderate depth holes. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders sized for a 0.2500-inch shank diameter.
Designed for use with workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. Fits any drill chuck or collet holder accepting a 0.2500-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of OSG Series 6300.
This bit is installed and used by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is properly torqued before securing the shank in the collet or chuck. Verify shank runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application before beginning a production run. Solid carbide tooling is brittle compared to HSS alternatives and should not be used in setups with excessive vibration or interrupted cuts without confirming suitability.
