The OSG 62635 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction at the cutting edge. The bit measures 13.5 mm in diameter (0.5315 inches) with a 120-degree split point and N-thinned web geometry that reduces thrust and promotes self-centering on entry. Overall length is 166 mm with a 106 mm flute length. Two spiral flutes with a right-hand cut clear chips efficiently. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and production drilling operators are the primary users of this tool.
The OSG 62635 is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The straight-cylindrical shank at 16 mm diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. It is appropriate for use on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machine tools where consistent hole geometry is required. The Series 1600 designation places this bit in OSG's high-performance jobber-length product line.
Designed for use with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces per OSG Series 1600 specifications. Compatible with any drill chuck or collet accepting a 16 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before drilling. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing bits. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer recommendations for speed, feed, and coolant application for the specific workpiece material.
