The OSG 62627 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this bit delivers extended wear resistance and reduced friction at the cutting edge. It measures 0.500 inches (12.70 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 158.00 mm and a flute length of 101.00 mm. The 120-degree S-thinned point promotes self-centering and reduces the thrust required to start a hole. A tapered web and regular spiral geometry support efficient chip evacuation during drilling.
This drill bit is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks and CNC tool holders without modification. It is appropriate for use in manual drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills where a 1/2-inch jobber-length bit is specified. The Series 1600 designation places it in OSG high-performance tooling for production and maintenance machining environments.
Designed for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and power drills accepting a 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank bit. Suitable for cutting steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate per the primary workpiece material ratings for this series.
Install this bit in a properly rated drill chuck or collet holder and verify that the shank is fully seated and secured before operation. Always power down or de-energize the machine before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant at the workpiece when drilling ferrous metals to manage heat buildup; note that this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Wear approved eye protection and follow applicable ANSI and shop-safety standards during all drilling operations.
