The OSG 62610 is a jobber-length twist drill bit ground from vanadium high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. Measuring 11 mm in diameter with an overall length of 151 mm and a flute length of 94 mm, it is engineered for high-performance drilling in production and maintenance environments. The S-thinned point at 120 degrees reduces thrust and promotes self-centering on entry, while the regular spiral and two-flute geometry support efficient chip evacuation. Machinists, fabricators, and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users of this bit in both manual and CNC drilling applications.
The OSG 62610 is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloys, and aluminum silicate. Its straight-cylindrical shank with a 12 mm shank diameter fits standard three-jaw drill chucks and collet-style toolholders. The TiN coating extends tool life by reducing friction and heat buildup at the cutting edge, making this bit a practical choice for repetitive production drilling where re-sharpening intervals matter.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet toolholders accepting a 12 mm straight-cylindrical shank; suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpiece materials per OSG Series 1600 specifications.
This bit is installed by a machinist or qualified shop technician into a drill press, milling machine, or CNC machining center. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is de-energized or in a safe-stop state before changing tooling. Secure the shank completely within the chuck or collet to the recommended grip depth before tightening. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; use external flood or mist coolant as appropriate for the workpiece material and feed rate.
