The OSG 62577 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction in demanding production environments. The bit measures 7.7 mm in diameter (0.3031 inch decimal equivalent) with an overall length of 119 mm (approximately 4.69 inches) and a flute length of 75 mm (approximately 2.95 inches). The S-thinned point reduces thrust force and improves self-centering at entry. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals reach for this bit in both manual and CNC drilling setups.
The OSG 62577 is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The 120-degree point angle and regular spiral geometry make it a practical general-purpose choice across a wide range of shop and field applications. The straight-cylindrical shank with an 8 mm shank diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting an 8 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate, corresponding to material codes P, M, and N. Part of the OSG Series 1600 jobber-length drill line.
Secure the shank fully in a drill chuck or collet before operating. Always set spindle speed appropriate to the workpiece material and bit diameter — consult a speeds-and-feeds reference for the specific material being drilled. Coolant through is not supported on this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling steel or stainless steel to manage heat. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace when chipping or excessive dulling is observed.
