The OSG 62575 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for productive hole-making in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and aluminum alloys. It is machined from vanadium high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating to extend edge life and reduce friction during cutting. The bit measures 7.5 mm in diameter with a 113 mm overall length and a 69 mm flute length. The 120-degree split-point geometry includes S-thinned web thinning, which improves self-centering and reduces the thrust force needed to start a hole without a center punch. Machinists and maintenance trades use this bit in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills where consistent dimensional accuracy is required.
The OSG 62575 is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, and N cover carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and aluminum silicate. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 8 mm in diameter, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders used in both production and maintenance environments. The Series 1600 designation places this bit within OSG's high-performance jobber-length line intended for demanding shop and field applications.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces; compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting an 8 mm straight-cylindrical shank across drill press, hand-held power drill, and CNC machining center setups.
Installation of this drill bit is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians following standard tooling procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits before operation, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces hole-diameter accuracy. Follow the workpiece material manufacturer and OSG Series 1600 recommended feeds and speeds; do not force the bit through hardened or unknown material grades without confirming compatibility.
