The OSG 62554 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from vanadium high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers improved surface hardness and extended cutting life compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 120-degree point angle and S-thinned web geometry promote accurate self-centering entry and reduce the thrust force needed to start a hole. The overall length is 101 millimeters with a 57-millimeter flute length, and the straight-cylindrical shank measures 6 millimeters in diameter. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals reach for this bit in both manual and CNC drilling operations.
The OSG 62554 is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The regular spiral flute configuration promotes chip evacuation in these materials. The 5.40 mm diameter falls within the 5.00 to 6.00 mm size range of the OSG Series 1600 jobber drill family, making it a common selection for precision hole sizing in light manufacturing, maintenance, and fabrication environments. Coolant-through capability is not supported on this tool.
Part of the OSG Series 1600 jobber drill line. Designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Fits any drill chuck or collet holder accepting a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
This tool is installed by machinists and maintenance technicians in drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized chuck or collet before operation and confirm runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Do not exceed the recommended spindle speed for the workpiece material and bit diameter. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace the bit when point geometry degrades to avoid workpiece damage or tool breakage.
