The OSG 62552 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose and high-performance drilling in metalworking applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and improved wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 5.2 mm diameter with a 120-degree split point and S-thinned web reduces thrust force at entry and promotes self-centering without a center punch. Overall length is 96 mm with a 52 mm flute length. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6 mm in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks or CNC toolholders. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials will find this bit suited to a wide range of production and repair tasks.
The OSG 62552 is appropriate for use in drilling blind holes, through holes, and cross holes in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. This bit is installed by a machinist or maintenance technician into a drill press, CNC spindle, or handheld drill with an appropriately sized chuck or collet. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to maintain edge life, noting this bit does not support through-tool coolant. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use and replace the bit if edge integrity is compromised.
