The OSG 62546 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metal and alloy applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, the bit delivers extended tool life and reduced friction across a wide range of workpiece materials. The 120-degree S-thinned point promotes self-centering entry and reduces the thrust force required to start a hole. With an overall length of 91 mm and a 4.6 mm cutting diameter, it is suited for production drilling environments where consistent hole quality and tool longevity are priorities. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die shops, and maintenance technicians are the primary users.
The OSG 62546 is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. Its Series 1600 designation places it in OSGs high-performance jobber line. The bit handles blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, general drilling, and self-centering applications. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 6 mm diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders alike, making it a practical choice for both manual and automated machining setups.

Install in a properly sized drill chuck or collet matching the 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank before use. Secure the workpiece firmly and verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before starting. Inspect the cutting edge and TiN coating for wear or chipping between uses; a damaged edge reduces hole quality and can cause tool breakage. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so use external cutting fluid when drilling ferrous materials to manage heat buildup.
