The OSG 62545 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a wide range of metalworking applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction compared to uncoated HSS bits. The bit measures 4.50 mm in diameter (wire size 16, 0.1772 decimal inch) with an overall length of 91.00 mm and a flute length of 47.00 mm. The 120-degree split point with S-thinned web reduces walking and lowers thrust force at entry. This bit is typically installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working with drill presses, CNC machines, or handheld power drills.
The OSG 62545 is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Its straight-cylindrical shank with a 6.00 mm diameter fits standard drill chucks across bench-top and floor-standing equipment. The regular spiral, two-flute design promotes efficient chip evacuation in general-purpose and production drilling scenarios. This bit is a strong fit for job shops, maintenance and repair operations, and fabrication environments where consistent hole quality across mixed materials is required.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks accepting straight-cylindrical shanks up to 6.00 mm in diameter; suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces as listed in manufacturer specifications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with drill press and handheld power tool operation. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling stainless steel or deep holes to manage heat buildup.
