The OSG 62541 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a range of metallic workpiece materials. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and reduced friction during cutting. The 4.1 mm diameter translates to 0.1614 decimal inches, making it a precise intermediate size within the 4.00 to 5.00 mm range. The 120-degree split point with S-thinned web reduces thrust force and enables self-centering entry without a center punch. Overall length is 87 mm with a 43 mm flute length. Machinists, tool and die workers, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users.
This drill bit is suited for blind hole, cross hole, and through-hole drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The straight-cylindrical shank at 6.0 mm diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and quick-change holders. The tapered web configuration and regular spiral flute geometry support efficient chip evacuation in both CNC machining centers and handheld drill applications. The Series 1600 designation places this bit within the OSG high-performance jobber line, making it appropriate for production environments where consistent hole quality and dimensional accuracy are required.
Compatible with workpiece materials coded P, M, and N, corresponding to steel, stainless steel, and aluminum and aluminum alloys. Designed for use in standard drill chucks and quick-change holders accepting a 6.0 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
This bit is installed by a machinist or maintenance technician into a drill press, CNC machining center, or handheld drill with an appropriate chuck capacity. Ensure the machine is fully stopped and de-energized before changing tooling. Verify chuck jaws are clean and concentric to maintain the rated diameter tolerance. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling stainless steel or hard alloy materials to manage heat buildup.
