The OSG 62536 is a jobber length twist drill bit designed for precision drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction during cutting. The bit measures 3.6 mm in diameter with an overall length of 71.00 mm and a flute length of 39.00 mm. The 130-degree split point geometry, combined with S-thinned web design, promotes self-centering entry and reduces the need for a center punch on most setups. Two spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently in blind hole and through-hole operations. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and general metalworking professionals are the primary installers.
This bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate in production and maintenance environments. It handles blind hole, cross hole, standard drilling, and self-centering applications. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 4.00 mm diameter fits standard drill chucks and collet holders used in benchtop drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills. The Series 1600 designation places it within OSG's high-performance jobber length line, intended for shops that require consistent dimensional accuracy across multiple workpiece materials.

Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with drill press or CNC toolholding procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before cutting. For optimal tool life, use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling steel or stainless steel, even though this bit is not coolant-through rated. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping between uses and replace when the TiN coating is visibly worn from the cutting tip.
