The OSG 62530 is a jobber-length twist drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from vanadium high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it runs at higher surface speeds and outlasts uncoated HSS in demanding production environments. The 130-degree split point (S-thinned) geometry self-centers on contact, eliminating the need for a center punch on most surfaces. At 65 mm overall length with a 33 mm flute length, this is a standard jobber reach suitable for a wide range of benchtop and hand-drill applications. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance trades are the primary users of this bit.
The OSG 62530 is rated for drilling into steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. Tool application includes blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, through drilling, and self-centering starts. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 3 mm shank diameter seats directly in standard keyless or keyed drill chucks without a reducer. It is suited for manual drill presses, CNC machining centers, and cordless drill drivers where a 3 mm bore is required in light to medium production runs.
Designed as a direct-fit jobber-length drill bit for use in any standard drill chuck accepting a 3 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, and N correspond to steel, stainless steel, and aluminum families per ISO material classification.
Secure the straight shank fully in the drill chuck and verify concentricity before starting the cut. Disengage power and lock out the machine before changing bits or clearing chips from the flutes. Always wear appropriate eye protection when drilling metal. Verify spindle speed against manufacturer feed-and-speed charts for the specific workpiece material to avoid overheating the TiN coating or premature edge wear.
