The OSG 62525 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for precision drilling in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The bit measures 2.5 mm in diameter (0.0984 inches) with an overall length of 62 mm and a flute length of 30 mm. The 130-degree split point (S-thinned) reduces walking and allows self-centering entry without a center punch on most materials. Right-hand cut, two-flute spiral geometry clears chips effectively during through and blind hole operations.
The OSG 62525 is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloys, and aluminum silicate in production and maintenance environments. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross hole operations, and general drilling tasks on ferrous and non-ferrous stock. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet-style toolholding across CNC machining centers, benchtop drill presses, and handheld power tools. It is appropriate for use by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals working with sheet metal, structural steel, and light alloys.
Designed for use in standard jobber-length drill chuck setups compatible with the 2.5 mm to 3 mm shank diameter range; suitable for CNC machining centers, benchtop drill presses, and handheld power tools accepting straight-cylindrical shanks.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or industrial maintenance technicians familiar with rotary cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck or collet and verify runout before cutting. Always wear appropriate eye protection and ensure the workpiece is clamped securely before drilling. Confirm spindle speed is set to a value appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter per standard machining reference tables before engaging the cut.
