The OSG 62522 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for precision drilling in metal fabrication, machining, and maintenance applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, the bit delivers extended tool life and reduced friction in demanding cutting environments. The 2.2 mm diameter with a 130-degree split-point (S-thinned) tip promotes self-centering entry and reduces thrust force, making it well suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and aluminum alloys. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3.0 mm and fits standard drill chucks. Machinists, tool and die workers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this bit.
The OSG 62522 is used in both manual and CNC-assisted drilling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, and self-centering operations in production or job shop environments. The 27.0 mm flute length provides adequate chip clearance for through-hole work in thin to medium stock. The regular spiral geometry and tapered web configuration contribute to stable chip evacuation in aluminum alloys, stainless steel, and mild steel.
Designed for use in drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Fits standard drill chucks accepting a 3.0 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the OSG Series 1600 high-performance jobber drill line covering the 2.00 mm to 3.00 mm diameter range.
This bit is installed by a machinist or maintenance technician into a drill press, mill, or hand drill with an appropriately sized chuck. Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout before drilling production parts. Coolant through is not supported; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling stainless steel or hard alloys to manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use, as a worn TiN-coated bit can generate excess heat and degrade hole quality.
