The OSG 61635 is a screw machine length twist drill bit designed for high-performance metal drilling in industrial and shop environments. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it cuts at 13.50 mm (0.5315 inches) in diameter and features a 120-degree faceted point for accurate entry and reduced walking on hard materials. The web-thinned, tapered web design lowers thrust requirements and improves chip evacuation through its two spiral flutes. Overall length is 114 mm (4.49 inches) with a 54 mm flute length. This bit is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians running drill presses, CNC machines, or manual mills.
The OSG 61635 is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The screw machine (stub) length provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it a practical choice for close-tolerance work in production environments, machine shops, and maintenance facilities. The Series 1100 classification places it in OSG high-performance tooling, appropriate for moderate to high cutting speeds in ferrous and non-ferrous applications.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks; the 16.00 mm (0.6299 inches) straight-cylindrical shank fits drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand drills with appropriate chuck capacity. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate.
Install and remove this bit only when the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or locked out per applicable machine-guarding procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before beginning a cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material, noting that this bit does not have through-coolant capability. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use; a worn TiN-coated bit should be replaced rather than reground without specialized equipment.
