The OSG 61594 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a range of metalworking applications. It measures 0.3701 inches in diameter with a 120-degree faceted point angle and is manufactured from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. The shorter screw machine length body improves rigidity and reduces deflection compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for precision hole production in production and job-shop environments. The web-thinned, parallel web design reduces thrust at the cutting edge for cleaner entry, and the fast spiral flute promotes efficient chip evacuation.
This drill bit is intended for right-hand cutting and is used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines where stub-length rigidity is required. Verified compatible workpiece materials include aluminum, carbon steel, high nickel alloy, stainless steel, and titanium. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.3937 inches in diameter and seats directly in standard drill chucks or collet holders without additional adapters. It is suited for both production shops and maintenance environments where consistent, repeatable hole diameters are required across hard and abrasive materials.
Rated for use in aluminum, carbon steel, high nickel alloy, stainless steel, and titanium workpieces. Fits any drill chuck or collet holder accepting a 0.3937-inch straight shank. Part of the OSG Series 1100 high-performance drill line.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tool and die professionals familiar with cutting tool setup and machine operation. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing or inspecting tooling. Confirm chuck or collet runout is within acceptable tolerance before use, as excessive runout accelerates wear and degrades hole quality. Cutting fluid or coolant application is recommended when drilling stainless steel, high nickel alloy, or titanium to manage heat and extend tool life; note that this bit does not support through-coolant delivery.
