The OSG 61572 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction during cutting operations. The bit measures 7.20 mm in diameter with an overall length of 78.00 mm (3.0709 inches) and a flute length of 34.00 mm. The 120-degree faceted point angle provides accurate entry and self-centering on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. Web thinning reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. This bit is well suited for production and maintenance machinists working in metal fabrication, toolroom, and repair environments.
The OSG 61572 is intended for drilling into steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. Its screw machine length (stub) configuration makes it ideal for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and other short-clearance setups where rigidity and reduced deflection are critical. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 8.00 mm (0.3150 inches) in diameter, allowing compatibility with standard drill chucks and collet systems. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports efficient chip removal in moderate-depth holes.
Designed for use with standard drill chucks and collet toolholding systems that accept an 8.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. Part of the OSG Series 1100 high-performance drill line.
Installation is performed by machinists and toolroom technicians using standard drill press, lathe turret, or CNC spindle setups. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the chuck or collet is properly torqued before seating the shank. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to maximize tool life, as this bit does not have through-coolant capability. Follow shop safety procedures and machine guarding requirements when operating rotating tooling.
