The OSG 61557 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, this bit measures 0.2244 inches (5.70 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 72.00 mm and a flute length of 28.00 mm. The 120-degree faceted point and web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduce entry force and improve centering accuracy. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6.00 mm in diameter, making it compatible with standard drill chucks. This is a Series 1100 tool rated for high-performance applications and is installed by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians.
The OSG 61557 is suited for screw machine operations and general-purpose drilling in production and maintenance environments. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry support efficient chip evacuation at moderate to high feed rates. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The right-hand cut, two-flute spiral design is well matched to drilling on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and turret lathes where short, rigid tooling is required.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Fits standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drill presses, CNC machining centers, and screw machines requiring a short-length drill in the 0.2000 to 0.2500 inch (5.00 to 6.50 mm) diameter range.
Install and remove drill bits only after the spindle has come to a complete stop and the machine is de-energized or locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck or collet to prevent pullout under load. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply external cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material when drilling stainless steel or aluminum alloys. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for wear before each use and replace the bit when diameter tolerance can no longer be held.
