The OSG 61532 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, it measures 0.126 inches (3.20 mm) in diameter with an overall length of approximately 1.97 inches (50.00 mm). The 130-degree faceted drill point and web-thinned, tapered web design reduce cutting forces and improve chip evacuation. With a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and two spiral flutes, this bit maintains accurate hole geometry in a compact stub-length format. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators use this bit for precise, repeatable drilling in production environments.
The OSG 61532 is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Its screw machine (stub) length provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it a strong choice for close-tolerance work in turret lathes, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet systems. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional machine spindle rotation.
Designed as an OSG Series 1100 screw machine length drill bit suitable for use in drill presses, turret lathes, and CNC machining centers equipped with standard drill chucks or collet systems accepting a 4.00 mm (approximately 0.157 inches) shank diameter.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with cutting tool setup and machine tool operation. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable tolerances before production drilling to avoid premature tool wear or hole geometry errors. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material as recommended by shop practice, noting this bit does not feature through-coolant capability.
