The OSG 61529 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a coated finish, it measures 0.1142 inches (2.90 mm) in diameter with a 130-degree faceted point angle for clean entry and reduced thrust. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and machine spindles. With a web-thinned, tapered web configuration and regular spiral flute geometry, this bit is engineered to evacuate chips efficiently and maintain cutting accuracy across a range of workpiece materials. It is a single-piece unit sold individually.
This drill bit is suited for production and job-shop machining environments where short, rigid tooling is preferred. The screw machine length format provides greater rigidity than jobber-length bits, making it a practical choice for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turret lathes. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports effective chip clearance in these materials without sacrificing tool stiffness.
Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 3.00 mm (approximately 0.118 inch) shank diameter. Part of the OSG Series 1100 high performance drill line.
This bit is installed by machinists and toolroom professionals in standard drill chucks or collet systems. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to maximize tool life, noting this bit does not support through-coolant delivery. Follow shop-standard feeds and speeds for the workpiece material and diameter range when setting up the machine.
