The OSG 61521 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metal and alloy applications. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, this bit measures 2.10 mm (0.0827 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 44.00 mm (approximately 1.73 inches). The 130-degree faceted point provides aggressive, self-centering penetration suited to steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and aluminum alloy workpieces. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics rely on this style of bit for work in machine tools and drill presses where stub-length rigidity is required.
Screw machine length drill bits are shorter than jobber bits, which increases rigidity and reduces deflection in CNC machining centers, turret lathes, drill presses, and hand-held drilling operations where close-tolerance holes are needed. The OSG 61521 is particularly suited to production drilling in steel and stainless steel, as well as aluminum and aluminum silicate components. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports efficient chip removal during deep-relative-to-diameter cuts in the materials listed above.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for screw machine length drill bit applications in Series 1100; compatible with workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with cutting tool safety. Ensure the drill chuck or collet is properly tightened and the shank is fully seated before operation. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before beginning the cut. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or damage before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dulling is observed.
