The OSG 61511 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for short-hole drilling applications where rigidity and precision matter. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, it measures 1.10 mm (0.0433 inches) in diameter and features a 140-degree faceted point angle with web thinning for reduced thrust and cleaner entry. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collets. At an overall length of 39.00 mm and a flute length of 7.00 mm, the compact geometry minimizes deflection and is well suited to CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine operations requiring tight tolerances.
This drill bit is rated for high performance cutting in a range of materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The Series 1100 designation indicates an OSG screw machine length product line optimized for short-reach, high-accuracy work. The 2-flute regular spiral configuration promotes efficient chip evacuation in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Typical applications include production drilling in job shops, machine shops, and automated machining environments where consistent hole quality at small diameters is required.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks, collets, and screw machine spindles accepting a 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with small-diameter drill bit handling. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are properly secured before operation, and confirm chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits to avoid bit breakage at this diameter. Coolant through is not supported on this bit; external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling steel or stainless steel. Inspect the cutting edges before each use, as small-diameter HSS bits are susceptible to chipping if dropped or improperly stored.
