The OSG 5942200 is a cobalt tapered end mill designed for precision material removal in milling operations requiring a controlled taper profile. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The square end geometry and 3-degree taper per side make it well suited for machining tapered slots, die cavities, and draft-angle features. With a 3/32-inch small end diameter, a 1-inch length of cut, and three right-hand spiral flutes, the tool balances chip evacuation with rigidity on smaller tapered profiles. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry when the application requires it.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and toolroom applications where tapered wall features must be held to close tolerances. The 3/8-inch shank diameter fits standard ER and straight-bore collet systems commonly found in both vertical and horizontal milling setups. It is part of OSG Series 594 and is suited for ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Operators working in tool and die, mold making, and precision part machining will find this geometry particularly relevant.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct toolroom selection within OSG Series 594 tapered end mill offerings, compatible with any 3/8-inch straight-bore or collet chuck holder on standard milling equipment.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before mounting or changing tooling. Seat the 3/8-inch shank fully and evenly in the collet or chuck to the recommended engagement depth per the holder manufacturer. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating the cut, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on small-diameter tapered end mills.
