The OSG 5827400 is a cobalt square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention when cutting ferrous metals, stainless steel, and harder alloys. The double-end configuration provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life between replacements. With a 0.0787-inch mill diameter, a 15/64-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle, this end mill is well suited for slot milling, profiling, and light plunge cuts in tight-clearance setups. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working on manual mills and CNC machining centers.
This end mill fits applications requiring a small-diameter, short-length-of-cut tool in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without pre-drilling, making it practical for die work, mold machining, and precision part production. The 3/16-inch shank diameter accommodates standard collet systems and toolholders commonly found in vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. The uncoated finish makes it suitable for use with cutting fluids on materials where coating adhesion or heat buildup is not a primary concern. Series 582 is OSG's regular-length cobalt double-end line.
Designed for use with standard 3/16-inch collets and toolholders on vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills. Part of OSG Series 582 regular-length cobalt double-end square end mills.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Secure the 3/16-inch shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, particularly given the small diameter. Do not exceed the recommended length of cut range for this tool class, and avoid side-loading forces that exceed the tool's deflection limits at this diameter.
