The OSG 5808200 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers superior heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutting diameter measures 0.1772 inches (4.50 mm), with a 7/16-inch length of cut and a 3/8-inch shank diameter. Overall length is 2-5/16 inches. The two-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and clean finishes on slotting and peripheral milling operations. A bright uncoated finish makes it straightforward to inspect for wear. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments.
The OSG 5808200 belongs to the OSG Series 580, a regular-length cobalt end mill line suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and hardened materials. Its centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into a workpiece, making it useful for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling operations. The 0.1772-inch diameter makes it well suited for tight-tolerance features, small slots, and detail work where larger tooling cannot reach. It is compatible with standard 3/8-inch collets and end mill holders.
Designed for use in machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. Fits any standard 3/8-inch end mill holder or collet chuck on vertical or horizontal milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC operators. Before mounting, ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out per standard shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully and evenly in a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware to the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear and reduces dimensional accuracy on small-diameter tooling.
