The OSG 5803100 is a square end mill designed for precision material removal in milling applications across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool delivers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutter measures 0.748 inches in diameter with a 1-5/16 inch length of cut, a 3/4 inch shank diameter, and a 3-9/16 inch overall length. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Centercutting capability allows the tool to plunge directly into the workpiece without pre-drilling. It is well suited for manual mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills in job shop and production environments.
This end mill is appropriate for use in general-purpose milling operations including slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. The 2-flute configuration provides generous flute valley space, making it a strong choice for softer metals, aluminum, and applications requiring aggressive chip clearance. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation follow standard convention for most vertical and horizontal milling setups. The regular length classification makes it a practical everyday tool for machinists working within typical reach and deflection requirements.
Part of the OSG Series 580 cobalt end mill line. Designed for use in standard 3/4 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style tool holders on vertical and horizontal milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Secure the 3/4 inch shank fully within the tool holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut.
