The OSG 5743500 is a single-end square end mill designed for material removal and contouring operations on a milling machine or machining center. Built from M35 cobalt high speed steel, it delivers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling, making it well suited for interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials. The cutter measures 31/32 inches (0.9688 inches) in diameter with a 1-7/8 inch length of cut and a 3/4 inch shank diameter. The 30-degree spiral helix and four-flute geometry balance chip evacuation with surface finish quality. The bright uncoated finish is appropriate for general-purpose milling where a lubricated cutting environment is maintained.
This end mill is intended for use on ferrous and non-ferrous materials including steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous alloys. It fits standard milling setups in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments where fractional-inch tooling is required. The center-cutting design allows for plunge entry in addition to peripheral and slot milling operations. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry is standard for conventional spindle direction. The Series 574 designation identifies it within the OSG regular-length product line for fractional inch tooling.
Designed for use in standard milling machines and machining centers accepting a 3/4 inch shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys as specified by the manufacturer (material codes P, K, N).
Installation should be performed by a machinist or CNC operator following shop safety procedures. Secure the shank fully in the collet or end mill holder to the recommended grip length before torquing the retention system. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and never exceed the recommended depth of cut for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
