The OSG 5743208 is a square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and engineering plastics. Built from 3 percent vanadium high speed steel with a TiCN finish, this tool offers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard M2 HSS end mills. The 3/4 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1-5/8 inch length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle for efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With four flutes and a spiral flute geometry, it delivers a balance of material removal rate and finish quality. Machinists and tool and die professionals use this end mill in manual knee mills and CNC machining centers alike.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in shop and production environments. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into workpiece material without pre-drilling. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional vertical milling setups. At 3-7/8 inches overall length with a 3/4 inch shank diameter, it fits directly into standard ER collets, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders. It is part of the OSG Series 574 regular-length line, making it a straightforward stock replacement for worn or damaged tooling of the same geometry.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct tooling selection for standard 3/4 inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and Weldon-style tool holders used in vertical knee mills and CNC machining centers requiring a regular-length 4-flute square end mill.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Verify tool holder runout with a dial indicator before production use, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on the cutting edges. Tighten set screws or collet nuts to the tool holder specification — overtightening can distort the shank and cause runout issues.
