The OSG 5732108 is a square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations across a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from 3% vanadium high speed steel, this tool delivers improved wear resistance and edge retention compared to standard M2 HSS. It features a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating that reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The 23/32 inch cutting diameter, 2-flute geometry, and 30-degree right-hand spiral flute configuration promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Centercutting capability allows the tool to plunge directly into workpiece material. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on manual mills, CNC mills, and machining centers install this type of end mill for profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling operations.
This end mill is well suited for job shops, production machining, and maintenance environments where versatility and reliable tool life are priorities. The 2-flute design works effectively in softer steels, aluminum, brass, and plastics where chip clearance is critical. The regular-length geometry with a 1-5/16 inch length of cut and 3-5/16 inch overall length makes it a practical choice for standard-depth pocketing and shoulder milling applications. It is sold as a single-end tool and is not resharpened for dual-end use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for 1/2 inch shank collets and tool holders used in manual and CNC milling machines. OSG Series 573 product family.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder or collet is properly torqued before commencing a cut. Verify runout with a dial indicator before first use to confirm proper seating in the holder. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable ANSI B11 safety standards when operating milling equipment.
