The OSG 5730608 is a square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from 3% vanadium high speed steel and finished with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating, this tool delivers improved wear resistance and surface hardness compared to standard HSS tooling. The 2-flute geometry and 30-degree spiral helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation in slotting, profiling, and side-milling applications. The centercutting design allows plunge entry into the workpiece. This end mill is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on manual mills and CNC machining centers.
This end mill suits light-to-medium material removal in tool steels, alloy steels, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials. The regular-length configuration with a 9/32-inch cutting diameter and 9/16-inch length of cut makes it well matched for small-feature work, die cavities, and precision contouring where a compact cutting zone is required. The 3/8-inch shank provides rigid clamping in standard ER collets and end mill holders.
Designed as a standard shank end mill for use in ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling machine spindles accepting a 3/8-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the power is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention hardware to the machine manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before production cuts.
