The OSG 5667800 is a replaceable T-slot milling tip designed for end-style milling operations in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series 566 specifications, this tip features a four-flute configuration with a 30-degree helix angle and an IC908 manufacturer grade carbide substrate produced via PVD coating process with a bright/uncoated finish. The fine grain M42 material grade delivers consistent edge integrity when cutting steel and other hard materials. At 0.1563 inches cutting width and a 0.2344-inch length of cut, this tip is sized for precision T-slot work in production environments. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians on compatible replaceable-tip end mill bodies.
This tip is suited for machining steel as its primary workpiece material and is also rated for secondary materials including stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ANSI-standard geometry and SD D tip style make it appropriate for horizontal T-slot milling in both manual and CNC machining centers. Typical applications include keyway and T-slot finishing passes in tool rooms, job shops, and production machine shops where consistent replaceable-tip tooling is preferred over solid end mills.
Designed for use with compatible OSG Series 566 replaceable-tip T-slot milling bodies that accept SD D style tips. Verify body compatibility by matching tip style, cutting width, and series designation before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the milling body is fully removed from the spindle and the machine is powered down and locked out before exchanging the tip. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench and seat the tip firmly against all locating surfaces before re-engaging the machine. Inspect the seating pocket for chips or debris that could affect tip runout prior to installation.
