The OSG 5575100 is a 4-flute cobalt square end mill built for material removal in demanding machining applications. With a 1-inch mill diameter, 6-inch length of cut, and 8.5-inch overall length, this extra-long tool handles deep-pocket and long-reach cuts where standard-length end mills cannot reach. The solid cobalt M42 construction resists heat and wear in tough ferrous and stainless materials. The 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action. This is a single-end, uncoated tool without a chipbreaker, suited for shops running conventional milling programs where coating is applied in-house or not required.
This end mill is designed for use in vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines where extended reach is required. Typical applications include deep-cavity milling, slotting, and side milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The extra-long configuration makes it well-suited for mold and die work, aerospace components, and fabrication jobs requiring cuts beyond standard reach. It is non-centercutting, so it is not intended for plunge entry without a pre-drilled or pre-bored starting hole.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use cutting tool for milling operations requiring a 1-inch shank, 4-flute cobalt square end mill with extra-long reach, in the OSG Series 557 product line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank in a collet chuck, end mill holder, or Weldon-style holder rated for the shank diameter before mounting in the spindle. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool mounting to minimize premature edge wear. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling in accordance with applicable machine safety procedures.
